Midwives are primary care providers that specialize in low-risk pregnancies. You do not need a referral. Midwives will see women every four weeks until twenty eight weeks, then every two weeks up to thirty-six weeks and every week the last month of pregnancy. Midwives can order all tests and prescribe most medication pertaining to pregnancy. Midwifery care is funded by the Ministry of Health in Ontario-there is no cost to you!
Prior to your first appointment please read the information about genetic screening under the pregnancy resource tab. This will prepare you for one of the first choices you will make as a parent.
